In the late 80s, Ryan Lu was the first to introduce the trend of skateboarding to Tainan. He promoted Taiwanese street culture, extreme sports, hip-hop music, street dance, and graffiti. The work, “Grenade Blossom,” was created in 2008. Experimenting with Chinese paper cutting art with alternative and playful techniques, he demonstrates the similarity and differences between pop art and traditional culture. Ryan Lu has been invited by many known name brands, including Adidas, Nike, Carhartt, and Dr. Martens to collaborate on outdoor graffiti art.
He has participated in the album cover design of MC HotDog and Dwagie. In recent years, he was also invited by Red Bull music 3style world DJ to create the visual campaign.
